A musical mouse, a bat and a fox!

This is not a children’s story or a joke. This was a sign in my life. I firmly believe that animals come to me when God or the Universe is trying to get my attention.
On the last cold spring night, Jim and I were sitting in the kitchen when a white-footed deer mouse with its big eyes and ears appeared on the window sill and sat looking right at us. We do have a mouse trap and do not invite rodents for dinner but this seemed unusual. Elvis the musical mouse then jumped on the windchimes and when they chimed he jumped then back to the window sill to sit and look at us. This happened three times. After his concert, he got down and went behind the refrigerator. Either of us had the inclination to catch him and put him out in the cold. The next day Jim picked up his work gloves and went outside. Elvis the musical mouse popped out and looked right at him as he jumped down and ran away. According to Ted Andrews in Animal Speak, one of the questions to ask yourself when a mouse appears is- are you doing so many different things you are scattering your energy? A mouse is always telling us to focus on what we desire.
A couple nights later a bat flew into our house. We both have a great appreciation for bats and encourage them to live outside in our yard not in our house. I love to watch them soar and dive around a campfire. I do not find it fun, or funny to dive bomb me in my bedroom!  Windows were opened and a wild chase involving butterfly nets started around the house.  I checked the Animal Speak book before I went to sleep Bat is all about transitions and dealing with change.
And the fox was still to come. I looked out the window and there was a fox looking back at me from my backyard. He ran one way across the yard and then back again before jumping the fence and running away. The Fox tells me that the world is changing, growing and shape-shifting into new patterns of beauty and wonder.
What a  perfect time to transition and change because spring is new growth and life. Spring is a special time for me because this all happened the week before my birthday, a time to reflect on what I have learned in the past year. A time to remember as we get older we must let go and forgive things that no longer work for us. If we wish to become wiser and kinder and not just older we must embrace joy, love, and hope. If you celebrate Easter or Passover you celebrate freedom, new life, change, and transformation.
The animals came to remind me to focus on what is changing in my life and my body.  It is time to embrace changes and transformation, a time to grow wisdom, love, and joy. It is time to remember that we are a part of everything and connected to all of creation and all creatures.

Happy Transformation!
